FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Small Footprint  Mixed Signal I/O Module improves performance for JTAG/Boundary Scan Test Stations
Jena (Germany) – GOEPEL electronic, a global leader of JTAG/Boundary Scan solutions compliant with IEEE Std 1149.x, introduced the CION Module™/FXT192A at the Embedded Systems Show (ESS) in Birmingham/UK.
The new Mixed-Signal module integrates directly into test fixtures, offering multiple channels for parallel test of digital and analogue signals, including the control of actuators and sensors in a very small package. A CION™ Boundary Scan ASIC device serially controls the FXT192A via the TAP port, helping to keep the module size small.

“Current trends to use active electronics in fixtures for Boundary Scan testing are becoming more prevalent during production test, and with GOEPEL’s new module, these needs are met more effectively”, says Raj Puri, Vice President Marketing and Sales for GOEPEL electronics LLC. “The combination of analogue and digital test resources, numerous test interfaces, combined with optically isolated I/O enable the implementation of a variety of different applications, reducing costs and footprint for Boundary Scan test stations."

The CION Module™/FXT192A is expandable to 192 digital I/O, and all channels can be switched independently as Input/Output/Tristate. Groups of 32 channels can be programmed with voltages between 1.8V and 5V. In the case of shorts, they offer increased driver ability and additional safety circuits for UUT protection.

To support the test of analogue signals, the module provides 16 A/D channels and 8 D/A channels, individually adjustable for different voltage requirements. Three open-collector outputs, four relay controlled closers, and four optically isolated I/O enable control of numerous additional actuators/sensors such as push buttons, indicators, safety switches, relays etc.

Several CION modules, same or different types, can be daisy chained. In addition to high reliability and flexibility, all these features guarantee high safety and expandability. The CION Module/FXT192A effectively applies to testing of non Boundary Scan circuit clusters, connectors, backplanes or the test of on-board operating voltages in application fields such as automotive, industrial control, telecommunication, consumer electronics or embedded control.

The new hardware module is fully supported by all JTAG/Boundary Scan controllers of the ScanBooster™ and SCANFLEX® families along with GOEPEL’s integrated Boundary Scan software platform, SYSTEM CASCON™. For more than 10 years, SYSTEM CASCON™ has been the most innovative Integrated JTAG/Boundary Scan Development Environment with more than 35 fully integrated tools. Users can easily include the CION Module™/FXT192A in a test project and utilize its test channels in automatically generated test programs. All faults can be interactively debugged and visualized graphically at pin and net level in the layout and schematic view. Additionally, analogue resources can be accessed via CASLAN macros (CASLAN is a powerful, high-level programming language built-in to SYSTEM VASCON).
