FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GOEPEL electronic’s SCANFLEX® Boundary Scan Platform
now integrated on TERADYNE Spectrum 8800-Series
At the Productronica 2007 tradeshow in Munich / Germany, GOEPEL electronic, a global leader of JTAG/Boundary Scan solutions compliant with IEEE Std 1149.x, announces the successful integration of its SCANFLEX® boundary scan platform into TERADYNE’s Spectrum 8800-Series board tester. This solution is certified by TERADYNE and includes specifically designed SCANFLEX hardware and GOEPEL’s JTAG/Boundary Scan system software CASCON GALAXY®. With this integration, CASCON GALAXY has access to and can utilize the probes in the Spectrum 8800 bed-of-nails adapter for driving and measuring circuit nodes.

“TERADYNE’s Spectrum 8800-Series Manufacturing Test Platform now supports the unaltered reuse of all JTAG/Boundary Scan test and programming procedures generated with CASCON GALAXY", says Heiko Ehrenberg, Manager of US operations for GOEPEL Electronics in Austin, TX. “Our SCANFLEX  interface hardware provides Spectrum users with a highly integrated Boundary Scan system that ensures excellent signal quality and high performance. In combination with our CASCON GALAXY software, this integrated solution can further extend the Boundary Scan testability and overall test coverage by utilizing the bed-of-nails adapter for additional test access beyond the Boundary Scan resources available on the Unit Under Test."

TERADYNE’s in-circuit test marketing director, Christopher McNally, said, “SCANFLEX is a high-speed, high-performance Boundary Scan solution that extends Spectrum’s overall test capabilities. Like TERADYNE’s TestStation In-Circuit Testers, Spectrum testers can now be configured with certified GOEPEL electronic Boundary Scan solutions to expand system scalability and make more test options available to our customers worldwide.

The integrated Boundary Scan hardware includes a SCANFLEX PCI controller with a programmable TCK frequency of up to 20MHz (SFX/PCI1149-A) or 50MHz (SFX/PCI1149-B) and a plug-in SCANFLEX TAP Transceiver specifically designed for the TERADYNE Spectrum 8800-Series tester.

Three different types of SCANFLEX TAP Transceivers are available with four single-ended TAP, eight single-ended TAP, or four differential TAP interfaces, respectively. The TAP Transceivers also provide 32 parallel I/O channels. All signals are available on the native ICT fixture interface and can be isolated from the fixture probes through relays. This approach, in conjunction with numerous programmable parameters for the TAP and parallel I/O signals, guarantees high throughput with minimal contact and wiring problems. The CASCON GALAXY integration on the Spectrum 8800-Series tester can also provide drive and measure patterns to circuit nodes accessible through the bed-of-nails adapter via the Spectrum’s Analog Bus resources.

The integrated Boundary Scan development and execution software package CASCON GALAXY® is linked with the Spectrum 8800-Series software via the comprehensive CASCON API (CASCON Application Programming Interface). Therefore, all Boundary Scan operations, including any post processing of test result files, are fully embedded into the overall test flow and controlled by the tester’s program. All available software and hardware resources are managed in an automated fashion. With a ‘Floating License’ installation, CASCON GALAXY permits license sharing between several TERADYNE machines and even stand-alone Boundary Scan testers, providing greater flexibility with a minimum capital investment.

For more information about the SCANFLEX integration on TERADYNE testers visit GOEPEL electronic’s stand A1.454 at Productronica in Munich/Germany from November 13th through 16th, 2007.
